How Fatherhood Changed My Approach to Health

Early last year, Adina and I welcomed our son, Solomon, into the world—and nothing has been the same since, in the most beautiful way. He’s brought a depth of joy, purpose, and wonder into my life that I couldn’t have fully imagined until I met him. Watching him grow, explore, and light up the world around him has transformed me in ways I’m still uncovering each day.
One of the clearest changes has been a renewed, deeply personal commitment to wellness and self-care. Before becoming a father, I often let those things slide—telling myself I’d catch up later. But Solomon has a spirit that’s constantly in motion—he’s curious, energetic, and endlessly present. I realized quickly that if I wanted to keep up, to really be there with him, I had to show up for myself, too.
So I’ve been making changes. More movement, better food, fewer screens. I’ve been working not just on physical health, but on being grounded—being available in the ways that matter most. It’s a gift I’m giving to him, yes, but also to myself and to everyone I love. And the truth is, it’s made all the difference.
Here’s to all the fathers doing the work—be it visible or quiet, physical or emotional—to show up with love, presence, and care. Happy Father’s Day.
